Man Stabs 22 Students at China Elementary School

BEIJING — A “mentally deranged” man armed with a knife attacked a group of students at Chenpeng Village Primary School Thursday.

Police have detained Min Yingjun, 36, who entered the campus and stabbed 22 students. Prior to the incident, the suspect had broken into the home, which is located next to the school, of an 85-year-old woman and attacked her, ZeeNews.India.com reports.

The victims were taken to three local hospitals with head wounds. A student and the elderly woman are said to be in serious condition.

After a string to similar attacks in 2010, the Chinese government ordered all schools to increase security.
