ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Police are investigating an incident at St. Cloud Hospital, where a patient, claiming to be a member of the band Pink Floyd, racked up a $100,000 healthcare bill.
Phillip Schaefer, 53, went to the medical facility for treatment on April 20, and told hospital staffers that he was Pink Floyd singer-guitarist David Gilmour. He also told hospital personnel that he didn’t not have any health insurance. Schaefer was then treated and released, SCTimes.com reports.
When Schaefer left, St. Cloud employees suspected that he wasn’t really in the band, prompting the hospital to flag his patient chart if he returned. The patient came back on April 24, using David Gilmour’s name. Police later arrested Schaefer, who admitted he was not Gilmour. It is unclear if the man will face any charges.
