Man Caught Selling Heroin From Hospital Room

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A 44-year-old man was arrested August 7 after he allegedly sold $420 worth of heroin from a hospital room at Palmetto Health Richland.

Police and hospital security were notified of suspicious activity in Troy Allen Baxter’s room, WLTX reports. Security officers witnessed Baxter throw a pill bottle into a trash can; the bottle contained 21 “bindles” of aluminum foil filled with heroin.

Baxter was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin.
