Man Arrested for Planting Suspicious Device at Miss. Hospital

MARION COUNTY, Miss. — Police responded to a possible explosive device at Marion General Hospital on Thursday after responding to a domestic disturbance at the facility.

Authorities said Fred Holmes Jr., 58, got into a verbal altercation with a woman off the hospital’s premises, which escalated to Holmes threatening the woman. During the argument, Holmes revealed that he had some sort of explosive device, which police discovered in a trash can at the hospital, WDAM.com reports.

Although officials deemed the device as not functional, police arrested Holmes in connection with the incident. He faces disturbing the peace of a business, as well as charges related to the device and threats.
