EXETER, N.H. — A former Exeter Hospital lab technician was sentenced to 39 years in prison on Monday for infecting at least 46 patients with hepatitis C.
David Kwiatkowski, 34, admitted to stealing syringes filled with fentanyl, intended for patients, and injecting his arm. He then refilled the empty syringes with saline. Police arrested Kwiatkowski for the crime in July 2012.
Kwiatkowski tested positive for hepatitis C in June 2010. In August of this year, he pleaded guilty in exchange for a lighter prison sentence, Associated Press reports.
