L.A. Mayor’s Bus Tagged During School Safety Promotion

LOS ANGELES – A student tagged graffiti on the back of a bus Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was riding.

The high school student sprayed illegible writing on the bus before being detained. At least one news camera caught the incident on camera.

Villaraigosa, along with Los Angeles Unified Superintendent David Brewer III, the school board president and others, were riding the bus to promote a recent Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) decision to redirect a bus route to help with student safety. Many students who walk to Santee High School report having been robbed and assaulted. Villaraigosa introduced a motion to redirect an MTA bus route to better accommodate school students in the area.

Villaraigosa suggested school police have the student do “many, many hours of community service.”
