Keene State Worker Dies of Electrocution

A hanging power line electrocuted a Keene State College grounds crew member.

KEENE, N.H. – A Keene State College grounds crew member died Saturday after he was electrocuted by a hanging power line while he was working on the campus.

Police and fire authorities were dispatched to the north side of the Owl Stadium Athletic Complex around 2:23 p.m., after receiving reports of a downed high-voltage power line. As they approached the scene, authorities saw an active brush fire near the body of an adult male -46-year-old Nate DeMond, WMUR.com reports.

No students were injured during the incident.

The college issued two E-mails to the campus community, informing students to stay away from Owl Stadium and also of the electrocution.

DeMond, a KSC alumni, worked for the college for 14 years, The Equinox reports.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
