The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has awarded Tonganoxie, Kan., with $250,000 in federal funds through the Safe Routes to School program. The funding will help the city construct sidewalks and improve traffic around elementary and middle schools.
The funding will also support the first year of a School Resource Officer in the Tonganoxie Police Department.
