K-9 Search Turns up 2 Handguns at California High School

ALHAMBRA, Calif.

A routine K-9 sweep at an Alhambra, Calif., high school resulted in one student arrested after a dog alerted on a backpack containing a handgun.

Officers found a second handgun in the unidentified Mark Keppel High School student’s waistband, reports KABC. The 17-year-old was arrested and the campus was placed on lockdown. A second student was also detained in connection with the incident.

Police searched student lockers and classrooms looking for additional weapons. Students were also searched before they were allowed to leave the campus.
