The 2023 Campus Safety Conferences (CSCs) are pleased to announce that retired Joplin School District Superintendent Dr. C.J. Huff will be delivering the opening keynotes at CSC West on July 11 and at CSC Texas on August 1.
In his presentation, titled “If I Had a Dime…,” Huff will discuss his and his district’s experience before, during, and after the massive EF5 tornado that devastated the schools and other buildings in his district, as well as most of the surrounding community of Joplin, Missouri.
“If I had a dime for every time I said, ‘You gotta take care of yourself before you can take care of others!’ I would have been able to rebuild our entire community after our disaster,” says Huff about his experience following the 2011 twister.
In his CSC sessions, which are sponsored by CEIA USA, he’ll share his journey’s implications for other school leaders who are now leading their campus communities through pandemic recovery.
Attendees will leave this session with practical strategies and an understanding of the “3 Pillars” that serve as the leadership foundation for career-sustaining behaviors that can make a difference in the mental health and wellness of not only yourself, but those you lead.
The Campus Safety Conferences will take place in Henderson, Nevada, July 10-12, and Dallas, Texas, July 31-August 2. They are intensive educational and training events for those involved in protecting our nation’s schools and institutions of higher education. The CSCs feature critical safety and security sessions for K-12 and college campuses, full-day, hands-on-learning workshops, 50+ product and solution providers, and extensive opportunities to network with campus peers from across the country.
