A Jewish fraternity affiliated with 185 different college campuses in the U.S. issued a warning about “rising anti-Semitic activity” to its chapters.
Alpha Epsilon Pi sent the warning October 15 after several recent violent incidents in Israel, according to forward.com.
The statement explained that several anti-Semitic incidents took place after the Gaza war in 2014 and warned that such ripple effects could repeat themselves in the wake of clashes between Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East in recent weeks.
In 2014 several houses of the fraternity, known as AEPi, were vandalized with swastika graffiti.
“We’ve already seen a number of incidences of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish rhetoric and violence on campuses this fall,” Andrew Borans, the fraternity’s executive director, said in a statement.
AEPi said it had contracted with a global security firm in 2014 to help different chapters deal with the security threats.
