CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – The Clear Lake Board of Education has selected Johnson Controls to update building security throughout the district.

The $512,700 project will include upgrades and additions for access control, fire safety, interior/exterior cameras and monitoring software, Globe Gazette reports.

Designed to be completed in phases, the project is funded by physical plant and equipment levy proceeds, which can only be used for buildings and technology.

District officials also plan to conduct active shooter training with staff members in the fall in partnership with the local police department.
