Iowa School District Gets $1.8M Grant for Safe Room

MASON CITY, Iowa – As part of an addition to its John Adams middle and high school complex, Mason City school district will be building a safe room to house students and staff in case of an emergency. The room will also operate as a performance space for students.

The construction of this multipurpose space will be funded by a $1.8 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, according to The Chicago Tribune

The announcement was made on Nov. 17 by U.S. Senator Tom Harkin.
