KITCHENER, Ontario, Canada – A suspect being treated for bruised ribs at St. Mary’s General Hospital escaped police custody on Nov. 21.
The suspect is Sidney Reid, 34, who was in custody on suspicion of methamphetamine trafficking and assaulting police, reports The Record. Reid has still not been apprehended by authorities.
The ordeal began when Reid resisted arrest for drug charges. After his arrest, he complained of having sore ribs, so officers took him to the hospital. After being treated in St. Mary’s emergency room, Reid escaped as he was being escorted by police officers. He wasn’t wearing handcuffs, reports CBC.
This is the second time in three weeks a forensic patient has escaped from a hospital in Kitchener. On Oct. 31, a female forensic patient escaped Grand River Hospital, but she was soon recaptured.
