Inmate Claims Slain Hospital Officer Choked Him

A judge is deciding whether to exhume the body of a Cox North Hospital security officer who died last year after he was kicked in the head by a forensic patient, according to News-leader.com.

The public defender for Jeffrey Bolden, 41, the inmate who kicked Monte Ruby in the head, filed a motion to have Ruby’s body exhumed, claiming that the security officer might have choked Bolden prior to the kick.

Public Defender Clate Baker says neither the police officers nor the medical examiner took any scrapings from Ruby’s fingernails, which could indicate Ruby choking Bolden.

Witnesses maintain that Ruby’s body was thoroughly cleaned prior to burial. Additionally, medical personnel who were present at the time of the incident said Ruby did not touch Bolden’s neck.
