SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — An forensic patient was apprehended on Feb. 3 after he escaped from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center through the facility’s catwalk system. Officers allowed Wade Willis to use the hospital’s restroom unattended, where he was able to remove a ceiling tile and crawl out.
Willis had been taken to the hospital after suffering from a seizure during his earlier arrest, KSL reports. Lt. Dave Caron of the Springville Police told the news source that Willis should not have been left alone and that the department would be reviewing its procedures.
Police were tipped off that Willis might be staying in a fourplex in Salt Lake City. The Joint Criminal Apprehension Team found Willis sleeping in the back bedroom of one of the apartments. Willis attempted to escape through a window but was unsuccessful.
