Info of 13,000 Job Applicants, Patients Affected By Computer Virus

INDIANAPOLIS — A Health Goshen Hospital has issued an alert to 12,800 job applicants and patients after a computer virus may have allowed access to their private data.

The virus was detected on Dec. 22, 2011, but at the time an Internet security agency hired by the hospital could not determine if the information had been accessed, SPAMfighter News reports. The data stored on the infected computer included names, social security numbers and addresses.

Though it isn’t yet clear whether any sensitive information has been accessed, IU Health Goshen is providing a year of credit monitoring to those potentially affected, free of charge.
