ANN ARBOR, Mich. – According to school district officials, efforts to protect technical equipment at Ann Arbor public schools are working.
The school district recently invested in 8,000 equipment security tags, changed some of its building access policies and hired a private investigator. All of this was done to protect the $12 million worth of new equipment and software that has been purchased during the past 16 months.
As a result of the application of security tags, which are used on equipment valued at more than $300, the district has recovered two projectors.
A security audit is being conducted to verify that each classroom has locked storage and cable that can lock laptops during the day.
A $500 reward is also being offered for information leading to the recovery of stolen equipment.
