California IAHSS Symposium Starts This Thursday

LOS ANGELES and PALO ALTO, Calif. – Region 5 of the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) has announced the speaker line-up for its July symposium.

Some of the speakers at this one-day event will include:

  • Michael Josephson, who is president of the Josephson Institute will present the keynote, titled:Character Counts: The Impact of Ethics on Security”
  • Anjanette Hebert, who is director of security, safety and emergency preparedness at Lafayette General Medical Center will present “The Silver Lining: Why Hurricane Katrina & Rita Improved Hospital Security in Louisiana”
  • Bonnie Michelman, who is director of police & security for Massachusetts General Hospital and G4S Operations Manager George Petak will present “Gangs, Craziness & Violence in the ED: Safeguarding This Challenging Environment”
  • Torrance, Calif., Police Department Sgt. Jeremiah Hart will discuss active shooters in the healthcare environment.

The event will be held twice: On July 28 in Southern California and on July 29 in Northern California. Here are the specific details:

Thursday, July 28

Friday July 29

  • Event Hosts: Aaron Salazar, director of security/parking services at Stanford University and Dennis Clark, operations manager for security services at Stanford University
  • Register for the Northern California event

Those wishing to attend must register for this event in advance. Registration closes on July 22, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. There will be no sign-ups the day of the event.
