Hospital Security Faces Scrutiny After Bathroom Attack

Published: June 7, 2009

Hospital security at MCG in Augusta, Ga., is receiving criticism from the community after a 63-year-old woman was attacked inside a hospital restroom on June 4.

MCG police, who says their duties are limited to the Medical College of Georgia campus and MCG Health’s emergency room, are not responsible for patrolling inside the hospital’s facility. MCG police stopped patrolling the hospital after MCG Health split from the Medical College of Georgia more than eight years ago, according to WRDW News 12.

The hospital employs unarmed security guards.
