More than 200,000 visitors’ personal information was stolen from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, after a hard drive vanished from the hospital’s data center. The drive contained copies of the drivers’ licenses of visitors, but no Social Security numbers or financial information, according to a report in the Miami Herald.

The hard drive was in the hospital’s mainframe data center that is secured by cyberlocks and swipe cards, according to the hospital’s chief information officer.

Hospital officials have recommended visitors from May 2007 to March 2008 place a fraud alert on their name with a credit bureau.
