Hospital Implements Canine Program

The St. Joseph’s Hospital security team has expanded to include a canine unit, according to azfamily.com.

The new program was implemented to increase security, and yet, not increase manpower, said Chris Bellino, director of security and safety.

The German shepherds patrol hospital grounds in 12-hour shifts with their human partners. Additionally, two of the dogs have been trained in detection of ordinance by chance there is a bomb threat at the hospital.
