Published: October 16, 2005

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C., A 15-year-old high school student faces a criminal charge and expulsion after school officials at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, S.C., found what they describe as a “hit list” in the student’s possession. The book also contained caricatures and drawings depicting people being harmed.

The student was detained Oct. 7 after he was heard talking about the list in class, which named five people as “People to Destroy.” Those on the list included his mother, the school’s assistant principal and a teacher.

Officials do not know if the student intended to follow through on his threat. No weapons were found in his possession.

The boy has been charged with threatening a public official and was released to his mother’s custody.
