High School Football Player Alleges Hazing, Threats of Sexual Assault
CLOVER, S.C. — The mother of a 17-year-old Clover High School football player is asking for better school safety after her son was the victim of hazing-related assaults.
Clover schools suspended 13 varsity football players on Oct. 7 after allegations of hazing assaults on three players reached school administrators, the Herald reports. Yelanda McCray said her son told police he was held down by older football players who threated to sexually assault him with a broom stick.
Two other players, ages 14 and 15, told police they had experienced “just routine hazing” at the hands of older players, according to the police report.
