HID Mobile Access provides users the convenience of accessing doors with a close proximity “tap” of a smartphone to a reader, or HID Global’s patented “Twist and Go” gesture-based technology that enables the use of smartphones from a distance for long-range access to doors and parking gates. Universities can choose to configure readers for “tap” or “Twist and Go” access based on their student’s, staff and faculty needs. Student users at a current pilot with a major university have stated that they “love the fact they can open the parking gate and access the parking garage with the Twist and Go long-range technology using their phone…even with the car window rolled up.” (Pilot press release with details anticipated during ASIS timeframe.)
Universities are asking for the capability to use secure, digital credentials across iOS and Android-based smartphones, while still being able to use traditional cards for personal ID and physical access (as well as additional applications). HID Mobile Access, powered by Seos®, solves the interoperability question surrounding the use of iPhones (and other iOS devices such as iPads and iPod Touch) or Android-based devices with its support of Bluetooth Smart that enables the use of both in a streamlined access control system. Unlike other solutions with potentially cumbersome provisioning processes, the robust, user-friendly online portal for HID Mobile Access is feature-rich, including batch upload for creating user profiles and optimized management of digital credentials for operational efficiency.
Dynamic: HID Mobile Access is powered by Seos, which also supports use of any smart device (smartphones, tablets, wearables, etc); it can also support future applications beyond access control (transit, cashless vending for the canteen, library services, time and attendance, and more) so university students can use their phone or other smart device for access control and a range of future applications. Arizona State University students validated the ease of use during a mobile access pilot program.
Easy-to-use, industry-leading portal: Makes it possible for administrators to simply send end-users invitations to download the app directly from the portal for instant access. Other non disclosed university pilot programs commented on the simplicity and intuitive design of the portal, making it quick and easy for students to begin using their phone for mobile access.
