WASHINGTON – Five incidents involving swastikas placed on students’ doors at George Washington University are being investigated by campus police.
Michelle Sherrard, the university’s spokeswoman, stated that campus police were investigating offenses at two different locations on campus. Both police and university officials are taking the matter seriously, she added. Currently, police have not stated whether there are any suspects.
A female freshman was targeted in four of the incidents, authorities said. The first three times she was attacked, a swastika was drawn on her door at Mitchell Hall. The fourth time, it was drawn in permanent marker. The other hate crime occurred at the Potomac House residence Hall.
This is the second hate crime on the campus. Earlier, flyers expressing hatred towards Muslims caused controversy.
