ROCHESTER, Mich. — Rochester Community Schools has terminated its contract with DM Burr Security Services after one of the firm’s guards allegedly violated weapons-free school zone rules.
RCS Superintendent Robert Shaner stated in an E-mail that the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation of a Rochester High School security guard and found him to be in violation of the weapons-free school zone statute, Detroit Free Press reports.
The change comes weeks after another DM Burr Security Services employee, who worked at Stoney Creek High School, was arrested for allegedly sending explicit photos of himself to a 15-year-old student.
The district has hired Safe-Ed, which employs retired police officers with experience in youth divisions, to provide security at its high schools.
