Georgia School District Launches Random Searches

AUGUSTA, Ga.

The Richmond County Board of Education Public Safety Department plans to launch random searches before, during and after school throughout the district, according to ABC 6.

According to public safety officials, the goal of the searches is to promote voluntary compliance. The department also hopes that the searches will serve as an education tool.

The random searches were prompted by a share of problems some of the schools had with weapons on campus.

Additionally, the department plans to install cameras in all of the district’s schools.
