Fraternity Banned From Wilmington College for Hazing
WILMINGTON, Ohio — Wilmington College has permanently banned the Gamma Phi Gamma fraternity following a hazing ritual that cost a pledge a testicle.
During the early November hazing incident, a 19-year-old pledge was struck in the testicles with a towel that had items tied inside them to inflict pain. The fraternity members took the victim to the hospital after he complained of significant pain in his testicles. He later underwent surgery to have a testicle removed, The Smoking Gun reports.
Police said that as many as 20 fraternity members watched or participated in the hazing, which also involved nudity, blindfolds, Icy Hot ointment and more.
A judicial board at Wilmington College ruled that Gamma Phi Gamma’s rights are permanently extinguished and that the organization will no longer be recognized on campus.
