NEW ORLEANS — The Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house at Tulane University was razed last week to make way for a campus police substation. The fraternity lost its charter in 2008 when 10 members were charged with felonies after an incident of hazing.
Construction of the new station is expected to start late this year, The Times-Picayune reports. It is being delayed until the university can hire a new police superintendent to provide input on the project.
The fraternity was shut down after members poured boiling water on pledges as part of “Hell Night.” The pledges were then pelted with cayenne pepper, vinegar and crab boil; two pledges suffered second-and third-degree burns.
