New Hampshire’s first transgender legislator says she called in a bomb threat at a southern New Hampshire hospital.
Stacie Laughton, who withdrew her candidacy days after being elected to the state’s House of Representatives in 2012, claimed responsibility for a February 27 bomb threat that caused the evacuation of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, reports the Union Leader.
Laughton suffers from bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Vermont. Police said they will wait to charge her with falsely reporting an explosive until she finishes treatment.
In 2012, Laughton was elected to the House of Representatives before it was revealed that she had previously been a convicted felon under the name of Barry C. Laughton, which forced her to resign.
