A man who served as sergeant for the Wichita Police Department and worked as an employee at Wichita public schools was convicted of sexually assaulting children on July 2.
Alex Robinson was found guilty of two felony counts of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust in Colorado last week and faces eight other child sexual assault charges in Wichita. Robinson will be behind bars until he is sentenced for the felonies in October, according to Kansas.com.
The other charges Robinson faces include aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a child, although Robinson has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Robinson was working as a school safety services supervisor for the Wichita public school district when he was arrested in 2013 and remained on paid administrative leave for over a year after his arrest. He also served as sergeant of the Wichita Police Department for nine years and volunteered for youth-mentoring programs including Real Men, Real Heroes and Boys & Girls Club.
