Former Plano ISD Security Manager Stole Millions From District

An audit revealed that Kris Gentz, a former security manager for the Plano Independent School District, embezzled an estimated $2.5 million from the district.

PLANO, Texas – A former Plano Independent School District security manager pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzling an estimated $2.5 million from the district.

An audit revealed that Kris Gentz, 59, stole money by filing false invoices for repairs for fire and security systems that was never done, WFAA.com reported.

Authorities said Gentz, a former Frisco police officer, along with two accomplices, created two dummy companies that billed the district with fraudulent invoices and mailed themselves the money, which was split evenly. The ruse went on for nearly 10 years.

One of his co-conspirators is now dead, while the other has not been arrested.

Records show that Gentz began stealing from the district in 2003, shortly after declaring bankruptcy.

Gentz could face up to five years in prison.
