McALLEN, Texas – Prosecutors announced April 26 that a former University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) associate professor has pleaded guilty for the online solicitation of a 13-year-old girl.
On Oct. 5, Raymond Landry Jr., 52, was waiting at a bus station for what he thought was his teenage victim to arrive from out of town. Instead, Landry was arrested by the Texas Cyber Crimes Unit and McAllen police. The teenager was actually an investigator.
Landry could face up to 20 years in prison for online solicitation of a minor, which is a second degree felony. His sentencing hearing has not been scheduled.
Landry previously taught accounting and business law part time at UTPA.
