Flu Forces Closure of 3 North Carolina Schools

SWAN QUARTER, N.C. – Five hundred forty one students attending three schools in North Carolina were told to stay home Feb. 14 through 16 following an outbreak of flu.

Nearly 20 percent of students missed class earlier in the week due to influenza Type B symptoms. The health director of Hyde county recommended the closures of Mattamuskeet Elementary School, Mattamuskeet Middle School and Mattamuskeet High School. Class is scheduled to resume Feb. 19.
