DELAND, Fla. – A 14-year-old, who wrote on MySpace that he wanted to shoot his classmates at DeLand Middle School, has received probation for five years as part of a plea deal.
Austin Mohr was initially charged with attempted murder; however, he pleaded no contest to attempting to discharge a destructive device, which is a third-degree felony.
Part of Mohr’s probation prohibits him from visiting social networking sites, such as MySpace and Facebook; he cannot contact the victims or the two co-defendants of the plot; and he must receive psychological counseling.
The two co-defendants, Tyler Christian and Charlene Russell, both 13, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to discharge a firearm on school property. It is unclear whether or not they will receive plea agreements.
