Florida State U. Employee Injured in Lab Fire

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State University (FSU) officials have closed the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory after an electrical fire that broke out Nov. 1 left one employee injured with serious burns.

Fire officials quickly evacuated the building and extinguished the fire, which occurred around 9:15 a.m. A routine maintenance procedure ignited the fire, which left the employee, an engineering technician, with second- and third-degree burns, reports FSU News.

The victim was transported to Shands Hospital Burn Center by helicopter.
