Forty-three Christa McAuliffe Middle School students were able to escape a burning charter bus uninjured after it burst into flames on January 23.

The students were on their way to Universal Studios when the bus driver pulled over for a mechanical problem. According to a school district report, the driver thought there was a problem with the clutch; however, two students saw smoke shortly before the bus was able to pull to the side of the road.

Within minutes of the students evacuating the vehicle, the entire bus became engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported.
