FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Nassau County school officials may implement a crime reporting program that would pay students $100 for tips.
According to a WJXT-TV report, if the school board approves the program, Nassau County middle school and high school students will get paid a reward when they report students with drugs, alcohol, weapons or tobacco on school property. A child can report illegal activity to an anonymous authority, and if the tip reveals important information, the student will be paid $100.
To fund the program, organizers are considering fining convicted individuals.
The Nassau County school board will vote on the proposed reward program in March.
