The University of Colorado-Boulder (CU) cancelled classes Thursday due to flash flooding, and some dorm residents were evacuated Wednesday evening.
CBS Denver is reporting 40 campus buildings have been damaged by the flood waters, including two of CU’s research laboratories, a library and some of its residence halls. In the dorms, 400 to 500 grad students, faculty, staff and their family members were evacuated. Others were advised to shelter in place. Damage assessments are ongoing.
There has been one injury on campus as a result of the storm: a woman broke her ankle while playing “slip and slide” on a campus field.
Boulder County has been hardest it by the floods, with up to 6 inches of rain falling in over 12 hours, reports the Associated Press. So far, three people have died.
