WASHINGTON – Counterterror officials say that suspected members of terrorist groups have purchased school buses or are seeking to acquire bus drivers’ licenses.
According to the Associated Press, the bulletin noted that there was suspicious activity by foreigners who are either licensed to drive school buses or are already school bus drivers. The bulletin did not indicate, however, how the suspected terrorist group members were obtaining their licenses or vehicles.
FBI officials also said there was no credible evidence indicating there were any plots or immediate threats by suspected terrorist organizations. Additionally, authorities said that most of the foreign nationals attempting to obtain licenses or buses have legitimate reasons for doing so.
Federal authorities, however, did ask law enforcement agencies to be vigilant about student safety.
