TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University (FAMU) has hired an anti-hazing administrator in response to the November 2011 hazing scandal that resulted in the death of the drum major Robert Champion.
Bryan Smith, a former student at the university, will ensure anti-hazing initiatives adopted following Champion’s death will be implemented, WFTV.com reports. Champion was killed during a ritual called “Crossing Bus C,” in which pledges try to move down the center of a bus while senior band members assault them.
Smith previously worked as executive director and co-founder of Destined for Success Educational Services in Decatur, Ga.
