Even Good Safety Programs Can Miss the Basics

It is almost inevitable that an informed and careful outside evaluation of a campus safety program will reveal that simple and extremely common strategies have been overlooked. This is often true even for campus safety programs that are very comprehensive and top flight in most regards. 

Aside from an external evaluation, another good defense against this type of common gap is for campus safety professionals to visit and assess other campus safety organizations. A willingness to accept that such oversights are common and possible can also help to prevent them from happening.
