EXTON, Pa. – Five community college campuses were shut down April 30 when anonymous E-mail threats were sent to several faculty members.
The approximately paragraph-long E-mail was sent to four to six faculty members threatening unspecified violence on two of the five Delaware County Community College campuses either April 30 or May 1. Sent from a Hotmail.com account, the writer mentioned feeling stressed out and unhappy.
Local and neighboring police, along with the FBI, interviewed more than 160 faculty members in hopes of finding leads. The college is attended by approximately 10,000 students, who were notified of the threat by E-mail, signs on campus and a message on the school Web site. Police officials say they are paying extra attention to the threat in light of the recent Virginia Tech massacre.
The campuses will remain closed indefinitely at the discretion of the college president.
