ODESSA, Texas — A car crashed into a building at Basin Healthcare Center on Feb. 6, leaving the facility without power for a week. The driver – who was drunk – drove his car into the healthcare center’s electrical room, destroying the transformer and emergency switches.
The healthcare center’s backup generator was also down after the accident, CBS 7 reports. Eighty employees will not be working during the power outage, but other staff members will be performing maintenance on the building.
Security will be directing anyone requiring emergency care to the Odessa Regional Medical Center for the duration of the power outage.
