A possible gang-related drive-by shooting left six injured after gunfire sprayed a crowd at Texas Southern University on July 22.

The large group of people had gathered on the campus in support of community service and voter registration. Gunfire erupted shortly after a local rapper’s performance. According to reports, the gunmen fired into a crowd that was leaving the event. Police are investigating whether the shooting was tied to a local gang rivalry.

The injuries, including those of one student, were considered serious but not life threatening, reported The New York Times.
