WINNIPEG, Canada — A victim of domestic abuse and mother of four is calling for increased security in Winnipeg hospitals after her attacker entered the facility and had a note delivered to her room.
On Jan. 6, Janine Moneyas was allegedly attacked with a pipe by her boyfriend, who broke her jaw in three places. Moneyas pretended to be dead to avoid further abuse and then went to the hospital for treatment, CTV reports.
However, Moneyas boyfriend came to the facility and made contact with Moneyas by sending a note to her room. Moneyas believes the hospital did not do enough to protect her.
Hospital officials told the news source that it was impossible to monitor every hospital visitor. A spokesperson from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority said patients have the option of blocking information — such as a room number — for privacy reasons.
