University Hires Lawyers For Officer, Psychiatrist in Holmes Case
DENVER, Colo. — The University of Colorado (CU) has hired a lawyer to represent a campus police officer following a theater shooting in Aurora in which former CU grad student James Holmes allegedly killed 12 people and injured 58.
University psychiatrist Dr. Lynne Fenton reportedly contacted a CU police officer with concerns about Holmes several weeks prior to the shooting, The Denver Post reports. CU officials have hired attorney Thomas Rice to represent the officer. Rice, in 2005, helped the city of Castle Rock, Colo., avoid a $30 million lawsuit in which the mother of three slain children warned police repeatedly that her estranged husband was violent.
The university also hired attorneys Jane Mitchell and Richard Murray to represent Fenton.
