NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — The California State University, Northridge (CSUN) police department was re-accredited on May 2 by a professional association committee. The team, which hailed from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), determined that the university’s law enforcement meets the necessary standards to qualify.
The department had to comply with 236 standards to gain approval, the Daily Sundial reports. During the last assessment in 2008, the police agency was accredited for the first time and there were no issues or complaints brought up by assessors.
The university’s police force is reassessed by IACLEA every three years. Police officials said accreditation provides the CSUN police with professional recognition and helps with liability, recruitment and resources such as conferences.
