Contraceptives Available at Massachusetts High Schools

Published: October 12, 2008

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – A few months after students at Gloucester High School allegedly made a pregnancy pact, schools in the Massachusetts city will now administer contraceptives to students, according to the Associated Press.

The school board voted unanimously Oct. 8 to provide birth control to students. In order to obtain the contraceptives, students need to have parental consent.

In June, Time magazine reported that 17 girls at Gloucester High School made a pact to become pregnant and raise their children together. Some of the girls and the mayor of the city denied the pact ever existed.
